JILL MIRZA‘Swanage Bay, Summer’19¾ x 39⅜ in / 50 x 100 cm Acrylic on Canvas 2012
Round the central image of the beach in Swanage small images are arranged. It isa narrative painting, the images are snapshots of significant events, objects and placesthat sum up the spirit of the English seaside town in Summer. The challenge whenpainting it was to make the images balance each other and relate so that the wholeimage reads coherently as an arrangement of shapes and colours which can beappreciated from a distance, as a patchwork, the smaller images making a decorativeborder for the central painting.
