A hot day, a wind ruffles the vivid, luminous sea. As on all Greek islands, cats gather,
waiting for the islanders to come and feed them or the fishing boats to return. They give
lift to this stark image. The walls, steps and paving stones are constructed haphazardly
allowing for a relaxed interpretation. The shadows contrast richly with the whiteness of
the walls and steps. There is a sense of space – of expansiveness.
